He found the net early in the second half, but his goal was chopped off for offside, leading him to kick the ball into the fans in frustration and earning himself a yellow card.
After the goal, he ran down the corner flag at Old Trafford in the midst of a roaring crowd, who expected him to perform his famous ‘Siu’ goal celebration.
Instead, however, he resorted to his new ‘sleeping’ celebration, the same one he performed after scoring against Everton.
Fans instantly took to social media to hail Ronaldo, not for his goal, but for his celebration, which has already caused ripples across the world.
"This Cristiano Ronaldo celebration is really epic." One fan tweeted.
“Coldest celebration in football,” Added another.
A third one commented: "I’m loving this new Ronaldo celebration."
"Ronaldo has replaced the SIU with this celebration and I love it already." Said another fan.
This was Ronaldo’s third goal this season across all competitions, and he will be hoping to continue to keep the faith of his manager going forward.
