  • Italian giants Napoli are reportedly looking to make a January transfer move for beleaguered Man United star Cristiano Ronaldo
  • Ronaldo has had a troubled start to the campaign that culminated in him getting banished from the first team, for leaving the pitch before the full-time whistle
  • A return to Italy would see the veteran forward have a second stint in familiar territory, having spent three years in Serie A with Juventus

Serie A giants Napoli are reportedly interested in offering Cristiano Ronaldo an escape route from his Manchester United nightmare.

Ronaldo has endured a frustrating start to the campaign, with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner playing a less influential role under Erik ten Hag.

The veteran forward has managed just two Premier League starts thus far this term, with ten Hag showing a clear preference for the youngsters.

His frustrations recently got the better of him, as he stormed out of Old Trafford during United's clash against Tottenham before the full-time whistle.

His actions saw him exiled from the first team, and it now remains unclear when or even if he will be reintegrated into the team.

Napoli interested in Ronaldo

With Ronaldo's future with the Red Devils now uncertain, reports suggest Napoli are interested in a January move for the Portuguese.

According to The Sun, a possible return to Italy is on the cards for the former Real Madrid star.

“Chelsea were interested in Ronaldo over the summer, but he is no longer on their radar," a source divulged to the publication.
“The most likely destination now is Italy. Napoli were interested in Ronaldo over the summer and are still keen," the source added.

Italy would be familiar territory for Ronaldo, having spent three years with Juventus before he rejoined Man United.

Chelsea ready to pursue Cristiano

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Chelsea could pursue a stunning January transfer move for troubled Man United attacker Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is in the final months of his contract at Old Trafford, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the ongoing season.

While United have the option of triggering a 12-month extension, that is unlikely to happen, especially after the veteran forward fell down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag.
