  • Liverpool Airport comically added its voice to the Cristiano Ronaldo saga by offering the five-time Ballon d'Or winner a way out of Manchester
  • Ronaldo has been at the centre of global headlines after rumours emerged that he had communicated his desire to leave
  • He is yet to join the rest of the United squad, who have since started their pre-season training under Erik ten Hag

It has been a wild few days since news broke that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to quit Manchester United this summer.

Rumours have circulated on the possible destinations of the widely-acclaimed superstar. He is yet to report for pre-season training under new manager Erik ten Hag, with others saying he has been excused to attend to a 'family issue' while other quarters indicating that he is forcing his way out.

But for others, like Liverpool Airport's social media admin, it is time to have fun and troll either the Portuguese international or Manchester United. United have been on the receiving end of banter for a series of issues ranging from lack of trophies in the last six years to Harry Maguire's defensive wobbles.

Liverpool Airport offered Ronaldo a quick way out of Manchester via their airlines in a hilarious tweet(well, depending if you are a pro-United fan or not).

Itching to get out of Manchester, but want to avoid the queues?
We happily invite Cristiano to try the North West's faster, easier, friendlier Airport, where he can connect to Munich or Lisbon with Lufthansa or fly Ryanair direct to Paris or Rome. ⚽✈️

The tweet definitely generated widespread reactions from across the football fanbase. It was not lost that Liverpool Airport is based in the same place as United's archrivals, Liverpool FC.

Even their Airport is obsessed with United. Rent Free and this is after we’ve fallen. Imagine what happens when we really come back.

For now, it remains to be seen whether Ronaldo will actually leave Manchester United. Or even take Liverpool Airport's offer.

Manchester United are now willing to offload Cristiano Ronaldo

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Manchester United are reportedly willing to offload Cristiano Ronaldo this summer after the Portuguese talisman asked to leave.

Ronaldo, who rejoined United last summer from Juventus, is believed to be unhappy at Old Trafford.

The five-time Ballon d'Or has a year left on his current deal with the Red Devils but is hoping to seal a move away during the ongoing window.
