Martial leaves Man United on six month loan deal

Recall that 26 year old Frenchman Martial completed a loan deal to Sevilla late on Tuesday, January 25, and it is understood there is no option for the La Liga club to buy him at the end of the season.

Sevilla currently cover Martial’s full wages, although reports also suggest he took a pay cut to move to Spain for the remainder of the season.

Anthony Martial record at Manchester United

Martial's moved to Man United in the summer of 2015. He has made 269 appearances in all competitions and bagged 79 goals.

The 2019-2020 campaign was his most successful, with 17 Premier League goals from 32 outings. However, with the arrival of new faces, his game time has diminished.

Martial gradually settling into life at Sevilla

After a rocky start for Sevilla, Martial finally got off the mark when he scored against Dynamo Zagreb in the Europa League.

However, the Frenchman has been on the sidelines with injury which he sustained in Sevilla 1-1 draw with Espanyol last month.

Since then he has missed the goalless draw against Alaves, the second-leg of Sevilla's Europa League showdown with Dinamo Zagreb, which the Spanish side lost 1-0, as well as last Sunday's 2-1 triumph over arch rivals Real Betis.

However, now Football Transfers claims that Sevilla have already opted against trying to secure him long-term.

They report a source saying: “Sevilla won’t buy Martial even if they win the EuroMillions.
“They are happy with him but they won’t sign him permanently.
“Any further deal is not in their plans at all - just these six months to help them challenge Real Madrid for the title.”

Martial is under contract with the Red Devils until 2024 but has a list of clubs being linked with him.
