Super Eagles hopeful, Elijah Adebayo, equalled Nwankwo Kanu and eight other Nigerian players' Premier League records in Luton's 1-1 draw against Everton on Friday, May 3.

The England-born striker has been out of action for weeks but returned to full fitness against the Toffees at Kenilworth Road for gameweek 36.

Adebayo missed 11 consecutive games in the league due to a hamstring issue and missed the chance to play for the Super Eagles during the last international break.

Adebayo was in the starting line-up and earned Luton a deserved point against Everton after Dominic Calvert-Lewin had initially given the away side the lead.

The 26-year-old striker's goal makes him equal Premier League records set by Kanu, Efan Ekoku, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Odion Ighalo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Obafemi Martins, Peter Odemwingie, Emmanuel Dennis and Taiwo Awoniyi.

According to a report by All Nigeria Soccer, Adebayo is now the latest Nigerian player to register at least 10 goals in a single Premier League season.

The former Fulham striker is currently the Nigerian with the most goals in the Premier League this season despite being out of action for some weeks.

Yakubu Aiyegbeni remains the Nigerian with the most goals in Premier League history and has registered double digits in six seasons, four ahead of Kanu, Ekoku and Odemwingie.

Adebayo ready to dump England for Nigeria

Sports Brief earlier reported on Adebayo declaring his interest in dumping England for a chance to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The England-born striker was due for a call-up into the Super Eagles setup, but his recent injury ruled him out of selection.

In a viral video on social media, Adebayo talked about his origin and confessed his desire to play for the Super Eagles, which would make his mother proud.
