Asamoah Gyan Advises Europe Born Players To Fight Their Places in the Ghana Team, Sights Example in Teammate

Legendary forward Asamoah Gyan has advised Europe-born Ghanaian interested in playing for the Black Stars to fight for their places in the team.

English-born Ghanaian trio, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Eddie Nketiah and Tariq Lamptey has emerged as players interested in representing Ghana.

However, Gyan, who played with German-born Kevin-Prince Boateng disclosed in an interview with Asaase FM that his former teammate was willing to justify his inclusion.

“Kevin Prince Boateng is a good guy. The first time he came in he told me how much he loved Ghana and that he was in the stadium to watch us in 2006,” Gyan said on Asaase FM as quoted by Citisportsonline.

“Kevin Prince Boateng came and showed what he could do. Those are the kinds of players I’d like to acknowledge. He was not in the plans of the coach, he had to fight his way in.”

Kevin-Prince Boateng was one of the stars of Ghana at the World Cup in South Africa in 2010 as the Black Stars reached the quarter finals.

He also helped Ghana qualify for the tournament in Brazil but had to be sent home alongside Sulley Muntari for indiscipline before the game against Portugal.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Germany international, Sami Khedira is surprised Kevin-Prince Boateng could not reach his full potential after showing enormous talent during their formative days.

Sami Khedira, a World Cup winner in 2014, started his career with the Hertha Berlin star at the same time and were both in the Germany youth national teams.

The former Real Madrid midfielder, in an interview with ESPN Podcast, spoke highly of the Ghanaian and insisted he could have been one of the best.
