Ghanaian football great Mohammed Polo has urged the Ghana Football Association to convince Asante Kotoko striker Franck Mbella Etouga switch his nationality.

The Cameroonian import has taken the Ghanaian top-flight by storm with his goal scoring prowess and his fine performances for the Porcupine Warriors in his maiden season as seen him chalk some incredible feats.

With the young striker firing at all cylinders, Mohammed Polo, who won the 1978 AFCON with the Black Stars has suggested the GFA pursues him to switch his allegiance to Ghana.

“Of course, there’s nothing wrong with that. He is African, he is playing in the Ghanaian league, he is playing the highest level of football and he is doing well. In his country, nobody saw him and if he’s come into our country and doing well in our league, it means we have given him the chance and so there’s nothing wrong with that.” He told Beach FM as quoted by Football Ghana.

He currently leads the top scorer's chart in the Ghana Premier League with 19 goals.

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah close to nationality switch

Meanwhile, red-hot Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah is close to sealing his nationality switch from England to Ghana before the World Cup in Qatar.

The 22-year-old has reportedly secured his Ghanaian passport as the move to represent the African giants enters its final stages.

According to 442GH.com, the England U21 all-time top scorer has decided to play for Ghana at the international level after receiving his passport.

Mbella scores in historic win for Asante Kotoko

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that runaway Ghana Premier League leaders Asante Kotoko recorded a historic victory at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena when the Porcupine Warriors pipped West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) on Saturday afternoon.

Cameroon import Franck Mbella Etouga scored the solitary goal to hand the Porcupine Warriors all-three points in a keenly contested affair.

The Kumasi-based giants went into the matchday 27 league clash against the relegation-threatened WAFA on the back of two successive defeats.
