  • Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has joined South African TV channel SuperSport as an analyst for AFCON 2021
  • The 36-year-old will be providing razor sharp analysis for the Channel's global audience during the tournament which begins on Sunday
  • Asamoah Gyan missed Ghana's AFCON squad after Milovan Rajevac submitted his team a month ago

Asamoah Gyan, Ghana's all time leading scorer, will be part of SuperSport TV's specialist analysts when the Africa Cup of Nations begins on Sunday, January 9, 2022.

The legendary Ghanaian forward may have missed the competition after he was not named in Milovan Rajevac's team for the tournament.

However, in an announcement made by DSTV on Friday, the former Ghana captain was named a pundit for AFCON 2021.

"CONFIRMED: Asamoah Gyan, Africa’s all-time leading World Cup scorer, will be among the specialist analysts fronting up #SuperSport’s LIVE coverage of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, beginning this weekend. Stay connected to DStv," wrote DSTV on Twitter.

Asamoah Gyan has enormous experience as a player at the Africa Cup of Nations, having played at the tournament from 2008 t 2019, scoring eight goals.

He is also Africa's all time leading scorer at the World Cup with six goals in three tournaments.

The former Ghana captain reacted to the news of his newly found job with delight, writing on Twitter he is excited to join the channel for AFCON.

"Excited to be joining SuperSport TV as a Pundit for their coverage of #AFCON2021. This has been in the works for sometime and I am excited about the challenge. Looking forward to sharing my knowledge on Africa's biggest football gathering together with other legends," he wrote.

Asamoah Gyan's final goal at AFCON pops up

Earlier, SportsBrief.com reported that, former Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan's legacy at the Africa Cup of Nations can't be erased that easy after his last goal at competition popped up on Social Media.

Gyan will not be at the competition for the first time since 2008, leaving lovers of African football disappointed.

However, in a video posted on Twitter, sighted by SportsBrief.com, fans were given a taste of one of his masterful goals with some reacting.
