The publication noted that Barcelona was fined over the contracts of three players that were handed out during the 2021/22 financial year. Dani Alves, Andreas Christensen, and Ronald Araujo’s contracts are all believed to have breached the FFP regulations, for different reasons, and as such, the club were fined.

Barcelona have appealed the decision and want resolutions for each fine. The club and La Liga could be embroiled in another long court battle as a result.

It’s not the first time that Barcelona have been punished by La Liga over a player.

As noted by The Guardian, Barcelona was previously fined €300 after they were found to have broken the rules in their pursuit of Antoine Griezmann. Barca appealed that decision as well.

Barcelona appeal La Liga's FFP rules

It’s not going to be a happy new year for Barcelona.

The Blaugrana will have to go through the January transfer without being able to sign any new players.

Club president Joan Laporta confirmed that the club cannot make any signings in January due to La Liga’s stringent financial fair play rules, Sports Brief reported.

Barcelona unfazed as UEFA investigate clubs breaching FFP rules

Spanish giants FC Barcelona are reportedly not bothered by reports that they could be sanctioned over their failure to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP).

The Catalan giants find themselves in hot water when it comes to their financial situation, this time with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

UEFA are investigating 20 teams, including Barcelona, for failing to comply with the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules for the 2020/21 season, Sports Brief reported.
