How Barcelona signed players before

The Spanish giants brought in a host of players during the previous transfer window, but did so through the use of economic levers. The club were able to generate income to fund their new transfers, but will have to find new sources of income going forward.

What are Barcelona's future plans?

As reported by Barca Universal, coach Xavi will sit down with Laporta soon to discuss transfers. The duo will also discuss the FFP regulations and formulate a plan of how they can still strengthen their squad without breaching the rules.

Barca could sanction player sales

One way that Barcelona can fund a move for new players is by selling others. Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay were among the players the club has consistently tried to offload, but they have since changed their stance on de Jong.

Director, Johann Cruyff recently confirmed that de Jong was loved at the club and would not be sold, Goal reported.

Depay, on the other hand, could be moved on in January. There are also question marks over the futures of Hector Bellerin and Franck Kessie.

Kessie's agent has downplayed reports that he is unhappy at the club and wants a move away, while Barca Blaugranes previously reported that Bellering was tipped to depart the club in January.

Barca director on midfielder's future

Frenkie de Jong is not leaving Barcelona anytime soon, Sports Brief has reported.

The Dutch international has often been connected to a move away from the club, with Manchester United the club most linked with him.

However, Cruyff has now opened up on de Jong's future at the club, saying that he was loved and would not be sold.

Barcelona appeal La Liga's FFP

It’s not going to be a happy new year for Barcelona, as reported by Sports Brief.

The Blaugrana will have to go through the January transfer without being able to sign any new players.

Club president Laporta confirmed the club cannot make any signings in January due to La Liga’s stringent financial fair play rules.
