  • Barcelona claimed their first win over Cadiz in 16 years after putting up an impressive display to earn an emphatic 4-0 victory
  • The resounding away win means Xavi Hernandez has been able to match the record of 17 games unbeaten away from home
  • That outstanding record was set by Zinedine Zidane as Real Madrid manager back in 2016

Xavi Hernandez has matched the record of 17 matches unbeaten away games since taking over the Barcelona managerial role.

The legendary midfielder took to the helm as Barcelona's new manager following the sacking of Ronald Koeman last year November.

And since securing a hard-fought 3-1 victory at Villarreal on 27 October 2021, the Catalans are yet to taste defeat away from home - with 12 wins and five draws.

That equals Zinédine Zidane's record run after taking charge of Real Madrid in 2016.

14 of Barcelona's away games were in the 2021/22 campaign, followed by three more in the ongoing season.

The last time Barcelona were able to avoid defeat against Cadiz was April 29, 2006, when they won 1-0 thanks to a solitary goal by former World Player of the Year Ronaldinho.

Before Saturday’s game, Cadiz was unbeaten against Barcelona in four meetings, securing two victories and drawing two.

Lewandowski on Target Again As Barcelona Continue Winning Streak With a 4:0 Victory Against Cadiz

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Barcelona claimed their first win over Cadiz in 16 years after putting up an impressive display to earn an emphatic 4-0 victory at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla.

Four second-half goals from Frenkie de Jong, Robert Lewandowski, Ansu Fati, and Ousmane Dembele propelled the Catalan giants to their 4th consecutive La Liga victory.

The game was however overshadowed by a medical emergency after a Cadiz supporter had to be attended to in the stands following a cardiac arrest with the game paused for over 15 minutes.
