Nigeria have been handed another lifeline in their pursuit of England-born winger Michael Olise.

The Crystal Palace forward was left out of France's squad for the European Championship in Germany this summer.

Despite being in red-hot form for the Eagles this season, he could not make France coach Didier Deschamps' final team for the tournament.

Olise has the option of representing either England or Nigeria at the senior side despite playing for Les Blues at the youth levels.

The 22-year-old was born in England to a Nigerian father and a French-Algeria mother, making him eligible to also play for Les Verts.

The failure to make the French team could affect his decision on which country to play for at the senior level.

In 2021, Olise was named in the Super Eagles standby list for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Lesotho, as reported by Own Goal Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Deschamps recalled Al Ittihad star N'Golo Kante while leaving out Matteo Guendozi and Moussa Diaby of Aston Villa.

Kylian Mbappe will lead the attack alongside MLS-bound Olivier Giroud and Serie A champion Marcus Thuram.

The 2018 World Champions have been drawn in Group D alongside the Netherlands, Poland and Austria, per UEFA.

PSG interested in Michael Olise

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Paris Saint-Germain have intensified their plans to find a replacement for Kylian Mbappe in the summer.

Mbappe is set to depart Parc des Princes at the end of the season when his contract with PSG expires.

The French star confirmed his imminent departure on Friday evening, May 10, through a video posted on his social media.

Olise warned against Man United move

Sports Brief also reported that former Liverpool star, Don Hutchinson warned Michael Olise to steer clear of a summer move to Manchester United.

Olise, who has been linked to several top clubs, including Manchester City, would be better off choosing a manager who can bring out the best in him, according to Hutchinson.

Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, he cautioned that a move to Old Trafford could stifle his growth, citing the team's current struggles and lack of cohesion.
