While the MLS has a reputation for attracting European stars entering the latter parts of their careers, Puig is one of the young talented stars who has made the move to America.

Puig joined the Galaxy until 2025, although Barcelona has a buy-back option and a 50 per cent sell-on fee in his contract.

While Puig is one of the few young players to join the MLS from Europe, he believes that trend will soon change, Daily Mail reported.

“This is a league for young players. Trust me, in the coming years you'll see more young players coming, he said.”

Many believed that the talented Spaniard was making a mistake by going from Spain to America, but Puig feels that it is a good opportunity for him, adding that he already feels at home.

While Barcelona felt like home as well, the last year didn’t go as planned for the youngster.

After breaking into the first team and failing to impress numerous managers, Puig was told by Xavi that he had no future at the club. He then had to move and opted to sign with the Galaxy.

As reported by Barca Universal, Puig said he was hurt by the club’s decisions, especially the one to drop him from the pre-season tour.

“I was in Barcelona while all of my teammates were in Los Angeles playing matches… To be honest that hurt me a lot,” he said.

With a new club and new chances to show Barcelona that they made a mistake, Puig is looking forward to the future. He is also expected to make his debut against Seattle Sounders on Friday (19 August).
