The Mamelodi Sundowns striker has been criticized by football fans after he shared his thoughts on Hugo Broos’ recent comments.

The Bafana coach made headlines when he said that South Africa didn’t have quality players and that the level of the Premier Soccer League was not good enough.

Erasmus then took to social media to question why the national team coach didn’t believe in the talent and the league.

While Erasmus merely expressed his views about the matter, fans didn’t take too kindly to his comments and the player received a lot of stick for it, The Citizen reported.

Some fans commented that Broos wasn't wrong about the standard of players in the PSL and referenced Erasmus' own goalscoring record as proof of that.

Benni McCarthy has now come to the defence of Erasmus, taking to Twitter to remind people that the Sundowns man was just sharing his opinion.

Broos’ comments divided the nation, with some agreeing with him about the standard of players in the country and others calling for him to be replaced with a local coach who understand the dynamics of the country.

The Bafana coach stunned South Africans yesterday when he admitted that the quality of players in the country are not up to scratch.

Broos made the comments during a press conference, in which he was supposed to provide a report back on the game against Morocco, Sowetan LIVE reported.

The Bafana coach has shocked many people with his comments today, in which he stated that the standard of players were very poor in the country.

Broos was speaking at a press conference where he admitted that the country doesn’t have quality players to compete around the globe, IOL reported. Broos also spoke about the difference in quality between Bafana and their last three opponents, Morocco, France and Ghana.
