The Bafana coach has shocked many people with his comments today, in which he stated that the standard of players were very poor in the country.

Broos was speaking at a press conference where he admitted that the country doesn’t have quality players to compete around the globe, IOL reported.

Broos also spoke about the difference in quality between Bafana and their last three opponents, Morocco, France and Ghana.

“It’s time now to face the real problem. And what is the real problem of South Africa? It is that we don’t have those high-quality players, like our last three opponents, Ghana, France and Morocco,” he said
“When you see the players of Ghana, 90% of the players are European-based. France, I don’t have to explain, all the players are playing in big European teams, Broos added.

He mentioned that Morocco’s team was also made up of players who competed in Europe, and that two Moroccan sides won the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

“Again, let’s face the problem of South Africa. The problem is, the level of our PSL is not high enough,” Broos said. “We don’t make players with high quality,” Broos concluded.

Many were shocked by Broos’ honesty, including Mamelodi Sundowns striker, Kermit Erasmus.

Erasmus took to Twitter to question why South Africa had a coach that didn’t believe in the league or players in the country.

His post caused division, as some sympathised with him others agreed with Broos’ comments.

Hugo Broos not displeased with Bafana Bafana's performance against Morocco despite disappointing late goal

Bafana suffered defeat to Morocco in last night’s AFCON qualifiers, but coach Hugo Broos isn’t disappointed in what he saw.

The Belgian coach was speaking after yesterday’s game in which Morocco came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory. Youssef En-Nesyri scored early in the second half to cancel out Lyle Foster’s opener before Ayoub El Kaabi broke Bafana hearts with a goal in the 87th minute.

Following the game, Broos added that he was not displeased by what he saw from his team against a star-studded Moroccan side.

Relentless Morocco breaks Bafana Bafana hearts with a late goal in Africa Cup of Nations qualifier

Morocco scored a late goal to deny South Africa a hard-earned point in the Group K opener of the AFCON qualifiers. Morocco started the game much stronger and dominated much of the first half.

The second half was played at a slower tempo than the first half, but both sides had chances to kill the game off.

Yusuf Maart and Percy Tau both squandered Bafana’s best chances, while Williams was once again called into action to save Bafana’s blushes. Ayoub El Kaabi broke Bafana hearts when he smashed home a volley in the 87th minute of the game to claim victory.
