Hugo Broos took over the national team last year and has already brought in younger players into the fold. Under his watch, Bafana went on an unbeaten streak which only ended at the hands of Ghana due to a controversial refereeing decision.

“We started by appointing a new coach (Broos) and embarked on a new process of developing a new set of players who can at least take us to the next five to six years,” Jordaan was quoted as saying in a Times LIVE article.
“By the next World Cup in 2026 in the US, Canada and Mexico, some of those players will be around 36 and 37 years old. If you look at some Bafana players, some of whom are 20 and 21 now, they will be around 26, 27 and 28 in 2026.
“That is the ideal age for players to reach the level where they can go to the World Cup, Jordaan added.”

With Bafana not playing in AFCON or the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, the team are in need of game time and will be competing against France next month according to IOL.

Readers fear for Bafana Bafana after announcement of international friendly against world champions France

In other news concerning the national team, news of Bafana Bafana being locked in to take on reigning world champions France has been met with trepidation by readers, Sports Brief earlier reported.

The national soccer team will take on the French national team as well as Zambia during the international fixtures window set for the end of March. The venues for both fixtures are yet to be confirmed.

According to the Sunday Times, coach Hugo Broos said these tough fixtures would prepare his team for future competitions down the line. As per 11v11, both nations have met in four previous fixtures, with the French winning two, South Africa winning one, and also one draw.
