  • Ex-Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur defender has backed Arsenal to win the Premier League because they don't play in the Champions League
  • Gallas also sat on the fence when asked about who will win between Arsenal and Spurs in the upcoming derby
  • Gallas became the first man to play for Tottenham, Chelsea, and Arsenal when he joined Spurs in 2010

Former Arsenal and Tottenham captain William Gallas has backed the Gunners to emerge victorious in the Premier League but said Antonio Conte's football style at Spurs is unwatchable.

Gallas became the first player to play for Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur. However, he remains a prominent player in the Premier League era not because of his football but his widely known antics.

Gallas joins a long list of ex-footballers who have tipped the Gunners to win the league this season after a blistering start, losing just once in seven games, according to talkSPORT.

Antonio Conte's side pipped the Gunners to a Champions League spot last season but have also made a strong start to the season, sitting just one point behind their arch-rivals.

Gallas backs Arsenal to win it all

Gallas joined Arsenal in 2006 from Chelsea in a controversial swap deal involving Ashley Cole. He gave a reason he thinks Arsenal are better equipped for a title run.

"I think Arsenal have a better opportunity to compete for the title than Tottenham because this season they aren’t playing in the Champions League. I think they have to be focussed on the title."

Gallas also made his prediction for the North London Derby.

"I will go for a 50/50. But Arsenal are playing at home, and normally when you play at home you have to win, especially in a big derby like this."

He said that Conte's style is unwatchable but tough to play against

“They play Italian-style football, it’s not very nice to watch but I think it’s very difficult to play against Tottenham."

Gallas joined Arsenal's North London rivals Spurs in 2010, sparking angry reactions from the Arsenal faithful.

Arsene Wenger tips Arsenal to win the league

Sports Brief earlier reported on legendary Gunners manager Arsene Wenger curiously backing Arsenal to lift the title since there isn't a dominant team in the league this season.

Arsenal are top of the table with 18 points from seven games but face a resolute and rejuvenated Spurs side in a highly anticipated North London Derby on Saturday.
