Former Gor Mahia player Dan Shikanda elected AFC Leopards chairman

Former Gor Mahia striker Dan Shikanda is the new chairman of AFC Leopards.

Shikanda beat former AFC Leopards Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ronald Namai and lawyer Ben Musundi to clinch the post.

The former AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia winger garnered 456 votes while Musundi came in second with 165, with Namai finishing a third with a paltry 72 votes to succeed Dan Mule.

Shikanda who is also a former FKF Nairobi Branch chairman and politician having stood as Peter Kenneth's running mate during the 2017 presidential elections promised to change Leopards' fortunes for the better.

"We want to make this team great again. Leopards has struggled for many years and I am determined to bring it back to where ir belongs. I have a clear plan of how we are going to make this club great again," he said.

Committee member Oliver Sikuku was elected club Secretary General after garnering 570 votes, replacing Oscar Igaida who was not cleared to vie for the position.

Maurice Chichi floored incumbent treasurer Oliver Napali to bag the position having garnered a total of 506 votes while Napali came in second with 188.

AFC Leopards elections dragged after Ingwe Cubs head coach Boniface Ambani went to court challenging the legality of the entire process after his name was omitted from the voter register.
