  • Hard-hitting experienced football administrator, Dr Nyaho-Nyaho Tamakloe has blamed Hearts of Oak's failure in the just-ended season on player indiscipline
  • The one-time Ghana Football Association chairman accused the players of Hearts for drinking and smoking before matchdays
  • In spite of enduring a difficult campaign, the Phobians managed to beat Bechem United to clinch back-to-back MTN FA Cup trophies

Dr Nyaho-Nyaho Tamakloe, a Hearts of Oak board member, has outlined the reason behind the club's underwhelming performance in the just-concluded season.

The Accra-based club mounted a spiritless league title defence losing out on the top-flight domestic crown to arch-enemy Asante Kotoko, finishing in a disappointing seventh spot.

The Phobians also failed to glitter in Africa, dropping out in the CAF Champions League to Moroccan outfit Wydad Athletic Club.

Despite the poor performance in the 2021-22 campaign, the one-time African champions salvaged their season with success in the MTN FA Cup and the President's Cup.

But diagnosing the club's failure this season, Dr Tamakloe, known for his forthright opinions alleged players of the Accra-based club engaged in smoking and drinking, hence the club failed in spectacular fashion.

“When I talk of indiscipline at the camp of Hearts of Oak, people always argue with me,” Dr. Tamakloe told Accra-based Asempa FM as quoted by Angelonline.
“But these players have been smoking and drinking before matchday games and that is the reason for our failure,” he added.

Hearts board member wades into Sulley Muntari Black Stars inclusion

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that a Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has hinted that Sulley Muntari should not be pushed to the handlers of the Black Stars.

Muntari's performance for the current Ghana Premier League champions has been impressive.

He has mustered a goal and an assist in six outings for the Phobians, laced with virtuoso displays from midfield which has generated discussions of his inclusion into the national team.
