Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson seems to have already approved Antonio Conte as speculation over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sack intensifies, Mirror reports.
United lost 5-0 at home to Liverpool and there are concerns that Sokskjaer who has continued to receive heavy criticisms will be fired soon.
Although the decision to oust Solskjaer could be taken after their league game against Tottenham, reports suggest that former Chelsea boss Conte is already on the sidelines.
Conte has already shown what he is capable of doing having led Chelsea to the premier League title during the 2016/2017 season.
And fans are calling on the head of Solskjaer and then Conte as replacement as Ferguson’s comments back in 2017 has now been brought up.
Ferguson told Sky Sports back in 2017:
"Fantastic, you see his energy on the pitch. There's a true saying that the team mirrors the manager, and that's what they've done with him.
"His team have stayed top of the league for so long. They lost to Arsenal and Liverpool early on, but since then they've been up."
Ferguson's previous endorsement could be key to Conte emerging as United's preferential choice should the axe fall on Solskjaer in the coming weeks.
