Victor Boniface has received rare praise from German icon Rudi Voller for his contribution to Bayer Leverkusen’s success story after they clinched the Bundesliga title this season.

The 23-year-old Nigerian striker, who was voted as the Rookie of the Month for four consecutive months, has scored 11 goals in 20 Bundesliga appearances for Xabi Alonso’s team.

According to All Nigeria Soccer, Voller compared the present Bayer Leverkusen team to Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich while hailing Boniface as one of the superstars in the squad.

“Xabi Alonso has put together a great squad and created a tactic that makes them seem invincible.
"Granit Xhaka on the six, defending, Jeremie Frimpong and Alejandro on the wings Grimaldo, they have Victor Boniface and Patrik Schick at the front. Everything works, including in the other positions.”

Bayer Leverkusen remains on course to win a historic treble, having qualified for the final of the DFB-Pokal and the semi-finals of the Europa League where they will tackle Roma.

Boniface picked as Leverkusen’s danger man

Meanwhile, AS Roma manager, Daniel De Rossi, is wary of the threat posed by Bayer Leverkusen striker, Boniface, ahead of their UEFA Europa League meeting, Complete Sports reports.

The 23-year-old Super Eagles striker, who was sidelined for around three months earlier in the campaign, has scored five goals and provided one assist in seven appearances in the Europa League this season.

Roma will entertain the newly crowned Bundesliga champions at the Stadio Olimpico in the first leg of their semi-final contest on Thursday, May 2.

West Ham target Leverkusen’s Boniface

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Boniface could part ways with Bayer Leverkusen after attracting interest from the English Premier League club West Ham.

The Hammers are willing to smash their club transfer record to sign the Super Eagles striker as they are willing to pay as high as €70 million for the Bayer Leverkusen forward.

West Ham would, however, face stiff competition for Boniface as the Nigerian is also attracting interest from top Serie A clubs, including Napoli, Juventus, and AC Milan.
