Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has expressed gratitude to the fans of Leicester City after crowning an outstanding campaign with the club's Young Player of the Year award.

The Ghana international's future at the club is yet to be confirmed as his loan deal expires at the end of the season.

The Sporting Lisbon loanee played a pivotal role as the Foxes secured an early return to the English Premier League and also won the English Championship title.

Issahaku was presented with the Best Young Player Award at the club's end-of-season dinner.

"It was an honour and a privilege to receive this amazing award. I want to thank my teammates and the management for their support and encouragement throughout the season, and all the foxes. I am so grateful to everyone who has always been a part of my journey. Thank you," an excited Issahaku wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The 20-year-old scored seven goals and provided 13 assists in his first season in England and will be hoping to stay at the King Power Stadium for Premier League football next season.

Leicester City have the option of making the move a permanent one after the youngster met the terms of the loan deal, making over 60% of appearances for the club while helping them secure promotion, as reported by 3 News.

Issahaku voted Young Player of the Year

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian forward, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku received the award for the Best Young Player at Leicester City after an outstanding season.

The Sporting Lisbon-owned player was impressive in his first season with the Foxes, helping them secure promotion to the English Premier League.

Having made a 20-goal contribution this season, Issahaku was rewarded for his role at the King Power Stadium in the soon-to-end campaign.

Issahaku shines as Leicester beat Preston

Sports Brief also reported that Fatawu Issahaku made another goal contribution as Leicester City were crowned champions of the 2023/24 English Championship.

With their Premier League return assured following Leeds United's defeat to Queens Park Rangers last Friday, the Foxes needed a win to consolidate their place at the top of the table.

The former English champions wrapped up the title in style after beating Preston North End 3-0 at the Deepdale Stadium on Monday night.
