Ange Postecoglou lashed out at his players in an unusual meltdown at Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening, May 2.

Tottenham Hotspur made the short trip to West London to face their rivals, Chelsea, in a bid to keep their slim hopes for UEFA Champions League football next season alive.

Spurs started the better of the two sides, but it was the hosts who drew first blood.

Skipper and rumoured Tottenham target, Conor Gallagher, swung in a free kick, which found Trevoh Chalobah completely unmarked on the far post.

The goal withstood a VAR check for a possible Marc Cucurella foul on Brennan Johnson and an offside shout to fire the Blues ahead.

Postecoglou tears into Tottenham players

Soon after the goal, as spotted on social media, the cameras picked up Postecoglou having a go at his players.

Chelsea dominated proceedings soon after, much to the dislike of the Greek-Australian manager, who was far from impressed with his players.

After the tirade, Spurs got a hold of the game, dominating much of the possession, but failed to trouble Đorđe Petrović in the Chelsea goal.

Postecoglou made a triple substitution before the hour mark, with Pape Sarr, Yves Bissouma, and Richarlison making way for Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, and James Maddison.

The changes failed to make an impact, and soon after, Chelsea scored again. Cole Palmer's beautifully struck free kick hit the woodwork, but Nicolas Jackson reacted quickly to slot in his 11th goal of the season.

The defeat all but ends Spurs hopes of Champions League football next season after a third defeat in a row. Chelsea, meanwhile, could still finish as high as sixth in the Premier League table with four games to go.

Last time Tottenham played Chelsea in EPL

Sports Brief also recently revisited the last time Chelsea played Tottenham in the Premier League.

A chaotic game saw Mauricio Pochettino lose on his first return to Spurs since his sacking in 2019.

Nicolas Jackson claimed a first senior career hat-trick after Tottenham were reduced to nine men.
