Aston Villa's Champions League hopes took a huge hit on Saturday after Chelsea held them to a 2-2 draw. Villa looked to be on their way to another win, holding a 2-0 lead by half-time.

The Blues battled back, however, in the second half, with Noni Madueke and Conor Gallagher tying the match with their goals.

Villa were fortunate to escape the contest with a point. Axel Disasi's strike in the 97th minute sent Chelsea fans into a frenzy, but a VAR check ruled his goal out moments later.

Two of Villa's last three Premier League matches will come against teams outside the top 10. They will face 12th-ranked Brighton on May 5 and 14th-ranked Crystal Palace on May 19.

Their last home game of the season will come against third-ranked Liverpool, whose title charge appears to be over.

Aston Villa's draw against Chelsea means that Tottenham's Champions League destiny is back in their hands.

If they win all of their remaining six matches in the Premier League, they will finish fourth and qualify for the European Cup next season.

That's easier said than done, though, as they will face several top teams in the run-in. The difficult schedule starts today when they face league leaders Arsenal at home, per the BBC.

They will then lock horns with ninth-ranked Chelsea on May 2 before traveling to Anfield to face third-ranked Liverpool on May 5.

Tottenham's final home game of the season will come against second-ranked Manchester City, who are in prime position to repeat as champions once more.

Top scorers in North London derby

Sports Brief recently reported on the top scorers in the North London derby.

Harry Kane holds the record, scoring 14 goals in this particular fixture.

Emmanuel Adebayor is ranked second with 10 goals scored for both Tottenham and Arsenal.
