Mbappe, who has been a pivotal figure for PSG over the past seven seasons, had harboured hopes of a fairytale exit by securing the coveted Champions League trophy.

However, the Bundesliga side thwarted those aspirations with identical 1-0 victories in both legs of the semi-final clash.

With his contract expiring in the summer, Mbappe's final home appearance for PSG will be against Toulouse on Sunday, May 12, at the Parc des Princes.

Subsequently, he is set to feature in his last match for the club during the French Cup final against Lyon on May 15.

Kylian Mbappe announces PSG departure

In a video posted to Instagram, the 25-year-old said, as quoted by ESPN, "Hi everyone, it's Kylian. I wanted to speak to you. I've always said that I would speak with you when the time comes, and so I wanted to announce to you all that it's my last year at Paris Saint-Germain.
"I will not extend, and the adventure will come to an end in a few weeks. I will play my last game at the Parc des Princes on Sunday.

Is Kylian Mbappe joining Real Madrid?

Mbappe's announcement of leaving PSG marks a significant step forward for Real Madrid in their longstanding quest to secure the services of the French international, widely recognised as one of the premier talents in global football.

According to GOAL, Madrid has been associated with pursuing the 2018 World Cup champion, and now it seems that the transfer will materialise once the window opens and his contract expires.

Real Madrid president calls Kylian Mbappe

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Kylian Mbappe reportedly received a phone call from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez after PSG's exit from the Champions League.

According to reports from Spain, the Los Blancos chief allegedly dialled Mbappe on Tuesday night after Luis Enrique's team was knocked out by Borussia Dortmund and expressed his condolences.

He purportedly said, "I hope to see us at Wembley. It would have been a pleasure to compete against you."
