Bruno Fernandes led his Manchester United teammates by example after scoring a brace, including a wonder strike with his weaker left foot against Sheffield United on Wednesday, April 24.

The Red Devils captain almost single-handedly helped his team to all three points against the struggling Blades, who are on the verge of Premier League relegation.

United went behind 10 minutes before the break after Andre Onana’s poor pass at the back found Jayden Bogle, who punished the hosts with a clinical strike.

Minutes before half time, the scores were level again as Harry Maguire scored for the second successive game with a landmark goal in the Premier League.

Five minutes after the break, Sheffield United were in dreamland once more as they took the lead again, against the odds as Ben Brereton Diaz slotted home from a cutback by Ben Osborn.

The Bruno Fernandes show

United fans had a sense of DeJa'Vu as they witnessed their team take them through a rollercoaster of emotions as was the case three days ago in the FA Cup semi-final.

Fernandes levelled matters for his side from the penalty spot in the 61st minute as he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from 12 yards to set up a tense final 30 minutes for the visitors.

The best goal of the evening came in the 81st minute, as United’s captain picked up a casual pass from Kobbie Mainoo before picking his spot and firing in a powerful shot from outside the box.

Rasmus Hojlund confirmed the result with a goal late on to end his eight-game drought.

Erik ten Hag's side secured a 4-2 win to move to 53 points.

What next for Manchester United?

United will hope to build on their latest win when they take on Burnley in a Premier League encounter on Saturday, April 27.

Supercomputer predicts title winners

Sports Brief also reported on a supecomputer’s prediction on the Premier League title winners after Arsenal’s win over Chelsea.

The Gunners are among the three frontrunners for the English crown after an impressive run of form this term.

Mikel Arteta’s team sits top of the pile with 77 points from 34 games. Third-placed Manchester City could leapfrog them if they win their two games in hand.
