Arsenal youngster, Jurrien Timber, produced a masterful performance for the U21 side as he continues to build his fitness after an injury-plagued season.

Timber, who was signed by Arsenal from Ajax, made his first start in football on Monday night, and made an immediate impact by scoring a rocket inside eight minutes during a match against Blackburn Rovers.

The 22-year-old collected the ball on the left side before shifting to his preferred right and unleashing a sensational strike, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

Not only was the goal a delightful one, it was also a prelude for better things to come for Timber, whose season took a devastating hit early in his Arsenal career.

Having signed from Ajax for £34million, the Dutchman ruptured his ACL early on during a game against Nottingham Forest in August, according to talkSPORT.

An ACL injury is a professional footballer’s worst nightmare, as it can lead to a lengthy spell on the sidelines. This is exactly what happened to Timber, who was ruled out for eight months.

The Gunners have been extremely cautious with their new signing, as they have not rushed him to return to action. His final stage towards recovery is testing himself out with the U21 team.

How the game went

Arsenal extended their lead through Amario Cozier-Duberry’s penalty after Nathan Butler-Oyedeji was brought down in the box.

The lead was, however, short-lived, as Harrison Wood found the back of the net with a shot from the edge of the area.

According to the Arsenal website, Blackburn drew level just before half time through Nsangou, who flicked home from close range. The game ended in a 2-2 stalemate.

Arsenal youngster’s resemblance to Saka

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on an Arsenal U21 star’s uncanny resemblance to Bukayo Saka.

On April 8, the young side played out an entertaining draw against Stoke City, with clips of their goals going viral on social media.

Fans noticed similarities in the U21’s style of play to that of the senior team, while some players also resembled their Premier League stars.
