Thiago Silva felt the most impact of Chelsea's 1-0 loss to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley as he was inconsolable at the final whistle.

Chelsea were at Wembley for the second time this season after losing the Carabao Cup to Liverpool thanks to Virgil van Dijk's 118th-minute glancing header.

Mauricio Pochettino's men were hoping to reach their second final and possibly win it as a path to Europe next season as they sit ninth on the Premier League table.

It was not to be, as the team wasted many chances to put the game to bed against a tired Man City, who played 120 minutes against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Bernardo Silva came clutch for the Citizens in the 85th minute to win it, though the Londoners would feel they should have had a penalty when Jack Grealish handled the ball in the box.

Thiago Silva in tears at full-time

As seen in footage circulating on social media, the Brazilian was in tears after the final whistle, as it could be his last attempt at winning a trophy with the club.

His contract will expire in the summer, and it is unlikely that the Todd Boehly-led consortium will offer him an extension, and he could leave after four years.

According to Trivela, the 39-year-old would prefer to remain in London with his family if offered a new deal rather than return to his boyhood club, Fluminense, in Brazil.

He joined the Blues in 2020 during Frank Lampard's era as manager. He reunited with former Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel and won the UEFA Champions League.

Thiago Silva sends message to Chelsea stars

Sports Brief reported on Thiago Silva's message to Chelsea teammates after they lost the Carabao Cup final 1-0 to Liverpool at Wembley Stadium in February.

The defender missed the match after failing a late fitness test but he took to his social media pages to fire up his young teammates after the deflating defeat.
