Several Nigerian stars, like Osimhen, Boniface, and Terem Moffi, have hit double-digit goals, among others.

Nigeria are well represented in Europe's best leagues, including the Premier League, Serie A, la Liga, Bundesliga, and the French Ligue 1. Sports Brief looks at the Nigerian top scorers in Europe this term.

Top 5 Nigerian top scorers in Europe

5. Ademola Lookman, Paul Onuachu - 9 goals

Lookman was arguably Nigeria's best player at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The Atalanta forward bagged three goals in Ivory Coast. This campaign, he has nine goals, eight in the Serie A and one in the Europa League in 31 matches. He was in action as his side thrashed Osimhen's Napoli in their last league game.

Onuachu started the 2023/24 season with Southampton but joined Trabzonspor in September 2023. He has scored nine goals in 17 matches in all competitions.

4. Terem Moffi - 10 goals

The 24-year-old recently bagged his 50th goal in the French Ligue 1. This campaign, he has scored 10 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions for Nice. He is Nice's top scorer this season. He scored a brace when they beat Kylian Mbappe and PSG 3-2 earlier in the season.

5. Victor Osimhen - 13 goals

Osimhen is the reigning African Footballer of the Year but is having an underwhelming season. He scored 31 goals last season as Napoli won their first league title in 33 years. He also became the first African to win the Serie A Golden Boot.

The former Lille striker has bagged 13 goals in 25 matches this season. It is a poor return for a striker considered one of the best in the world. His form coincides with Napoli's poor title defence. They are 8th in the table, 34 points behind leaders Inter Milan with eight games left.

It is important to note that Osimhen has missed 11 Serie A games due to injury and national team commitments.

2. Victor Boniface - 16 goals

Bayer Leverkusen are enjoying a historic season thanks to Boniface's goals and assists. The former Union Saint-Gilloise striker has 16 goals and nine assists this season in 24 matches. He's registered those numbers despite missing 14 games.

He played his first match in 2024 this week. Moreover, he returns when Leverkusen are consolidating their lead on top of the Bundesliga. He also has nine assists this season.

They are 13 points clear with seven matches left. Boniface will likely end up being their top scorer. A Bundesliga title will be a fitting reward for his outstanding performances.

1. Cyriel Dessers - 17 goals

Dessers has 17 goals in 44 matches for Scottish giants Rangers. 13 of his goals have come in the Scottish Premiership.

He has received criticism in Scotland this season but is having one of his best seasons. The best he scored in a league campaign was 22 when he played for NAC Breda in the Jupiler League in the 2016/17 season.

Moffi reaches Ligue 1 milestone

Sports Brief earlier reported on Moffi reaching a superb Ligue 1 milestone after scoring for Nice in their defeat against Nantes.

He scored 34 Ligue 1 goals for Lorient before joining Nice in January 2023. He has scored 16 league goals for Nice so far.
