  • Terem Moffi is enjoying a great Ligue 1 season with Nice
  • He scored in their 2-1 defeat against Nantes on Sunday
  • The goal also saw Moffi reach a superb career milestone

Terem Moffi achieved an incredible milestone in Ligue 1 after scoring for Nice in their 2-1 home defeat to Nantes on Sunday, March 31.

The Nigeria striker is now up to 10 goals in the 2023/24 Ligue 1 campaign in 23 matches.

With his goal against Nantes, Moffi has now scored 50 goals in Ligue 1, an outstanding achievement. Only two Nigerians have scored at least 50 goals in the French top flight.

He scored 35 of those goals in 87 games as an FC Lorient player. He played three seasons for the club, starting in 2020/21, before moving to Nice in 2022.

Moffi's first season at Nice brought six goals in 16 appearances. He has surpassed that mark this season. In total, the Super Eagles star has scored 16 Ligue 1 goals for Nice in 39 appearances.

The 24-year-old has scored four goals in his last four games for the club and will need to continue with that form to help his team end a run of poor form.

Nice have won two Ligue 1 games in 2024, losing six and drawing twice. The defeat to Nantes leaves them fifth of the table with 43 points from 27 games.

Moffi is now up to 81 career goals in 186, per Transfermarkt. Barring any injuries, he will hit the 100-goal mark at some point this year.

Moffi angers Mbappe

Sports Brief earlier reported on Moffi angering PSG's Kylian Mbappe with his celebration when the two teams met.

The World Cup winner had a problem with the Nigerian's exuberant celebration during Nice's 3-2 away win over PSG.

After Mbappe took offence with Moffi, the two players exchanged words before they were separated by the referee.

Moffi's goal wins award

Sports Brief also previously reported on Moffi's spectacular goal winning the Goal of the Week award.

He scored an overhead kick for Nice in the 2-2 clash with Basel in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
