  • Thomas Tuchel has been blamed for Alphonso Davies' poor form
  • The 23-year-old will be out of contract in the summer of 2025
  • Davies has shown no willingness to sign a new deal with Bayern

Thomas Tuchel has been faulted for Alphonso Davies' recent decline in top form amid speculations surrounding the latter's future.

Davies has faced scrutiny in Germany for hesitating to sign a contract extension with Bayern Munich, leading to suspicions of his desire to leave the club.

The marauding left-back has been given an ultimatum to extend his contract, but negotiations have stalled, leaving his future uncertain.

Meanwhile, La Liga leaders, Real Madrid, has reportedly shown interest in acquiring the Canadian, adding to the tension surrounding his situation.

According to renowned transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Davies is currently not inclined to renew his contract with the Bavarians, with potential suitors, Los Blancos, being kept informed of the developments.

While talks continue, the uncertainty has seemingly affected Davies' performances despite his continued involvement in Tuchel's plans. He has made 32 appearances across all competitions, per Transfermarkt.

Why Tuchel is at fault for Davies's decline?

But former Bayern Munich captain, Lothar Matthaus, believes Tuchel should have engaged in discussions with Davies to address his drop in form, dismissing claims that transfer rumours were solely responsible for his subpar performances.

“Alphonso Davies is a shadow of his usual self, his head is not clear," he told the German publication Bild, as quoted by AS.
"You also have to put your arm around players from time to time, have a friendly conversation off the field, like Uli Hoeness, Jupp Heynckes, Ottmar Hitzfeld, or Udo Lattek used to do,” Matthaus underlined.
“The reason for his slump is because of what has happened in the last few months, not the difficult conversations and negotiations the club has had with his representative over the last few weeks.”

Real Madrid fans excited about Davies' Bayern situation

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Alphonso Davies has verbally agreed to leave Munich for Madrid, either in the upcoming summer transfer window or the next.

The Canadian defender is anticipated to depart Bayern this summer due to a contractual disagreement with the club, and Real Madrid is poised to capitalise on the situation.

This news has sparked excitement among Real Madrid supporters, as Davies has reportedly opted not to extend his stay with Bayern Munich, as reported by Sports Brief.
