  • Alexis Mac Allister was the game's difference maker as he controlled the midfield
  • Luis Diaz didn't stop running and posed an attacking threat on the wings constantly

Liverpool are back on top of the English Premier League table.

The Reds top the table thanks to their 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion, and are now two points clear of Arsenal and three ahead of Manchester City.

Following their 4-3 defeat in the FA Cup against Manchester United, Jurgen Klopp’s men needed to bounce back in a big way, and they did it thanks to big game performances from three stars.

Sports Brief looks at the three Liverpool players who bossed the game against Brighton.

Three Liverpool stars who impressed against Brighton

Alexis Mac Allister

Liverpool’s World Cup winner put in a Man of the Match performance against the Seagulls as he helped his side claim a much-needed win.

The Argentinian created Mohamed Salah’s match-winning goal and controlled the midfield.

The former Brighton star ran the game, easily picking out passes and creating numerous chances for teammates.

Wataru Endo

Endo has truly become an unsung hero at Liverpool.

The English giants signed the Japanese midfielder after missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, and what a signing he’s proven to be.

Endo was again at his brilliant best against Brighton, as he dug into tackles and finished the game with 94% pass accuracy.

The midfielder’s defensive excellence has also allowed Mac Allister to play a more attacking role, and Klopp praised the connection between the two.

Luis Diaz

The Colombian has sometimes been criticised for his performances, but against Brighton he was at his best.

Diaz constantly posed a threat down the wings, and his quick thinking led to Liverpool’s equaliser.

Diaz was unlucky not to have grabbed a brace in the game, as his second goal was ruled out for offside. The South American embodied Liverpool’s mentality under Klopp, as he never stopped running and giving his all.

Diaz’s goal ruled offside because of Dunk

Sports Brief also reported how Luis Diaz had a goal chalked off because of an offside goal.

The Colombian scored Liverpool’s third goal of the Premier League tie before VAR chalked it off.

Fans took to social media to comment on Lewis Dunk’s lack of rear end, which led to the disallowed goal.
