  • Liverpool have been tipped to thump Manchester United
  • The two giants will cross swords in the FA Cup quarter-finals
  • The winner of the tie will book a spot in Wembley for the semis

Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique is confident that Liverpool will secure a convincing victory over Manchester United in their FA Cup quarter-final showdown at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Liverpool have already clinched the Carabao Cup this season and are now eyeing further silverware as they contend for the Premier League title and progress in the Europa League under Jurgen Klopp's leadership in his final season.

Although historical statistics lean in favour of Manchester United, with the Red Devils having secured 10 victories in their 18 encounters in the oldest football competition, per Fotmob, Enrique believes Klopp's charges will overcome their rivals and secure a spot in Wembley.

“I don’t fancy Manchester United to get a result on Sunday. This is still a difficult game for Liverpool, but I really think they are going to win," he said as quoted by Daily Post.

Offering additional insights into why Erik ten Hag's Man United team is likely to face defeat in the upcoming heavyweight clash, the Spaniard pointed out that their traditionally formidable home ground has recently become a disadvantage, providing an opportunity for Liverpool to capitalise fully.

“Manchester United are actually playing worse at Old Trafford than when they play away from home – it’s not the same as it used to be when I was playing.
“I’d love Liverpool to pick up a really big win here – I am going to go with 5-0 to them. They are scoring so many goals at the moment, and their attack is as good as it’s been all season.”

Man Utd vs Liverpool's last 5 encounters

Leading up to the highly anticipated showdown at Old Trafford, Sports Brief reviews the outcomes of the last five matches between the two North West adversaries.

Despite Manchester United holding a superior head-to-head record over their eternal rivals, it is Liverpool who have prevailed in three out of the last five encounters.

The Reds have secured victory on three occasions, with one draw and one loss, impressively netting 17 goals in total. Their potent attack has only been silenced on one occasion, aligning with Jose Enrique's analysis.
