  • Kobbie Mainoo has become the toast of football fans
  • The Man United youngster has dazzled for England so far
  • Mainoo made his debut for the Three Lions against Brazil

Kobbie Mainoo continues to impress both at club level and on the international stage, despite his young age, earning accolades for his recent performances for England.

The Manchester United academy prodigy has rapidly ascended since his debut for the Red Devils in 2023, displaying remarkable growth at just 18.

His outstanding form for his club caught the attention of Gareth Southgate, leading to a surprise late call-up for England's Euro 2024 warmup matches, per Sky Sports.

Although he made a brief appearance against Brazil, Mainoo left a lasting impression.

In a significant development, he was handed his first start for the Three Lions in a match against Belgium, where he was deployed alongside Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, and Phil Foden in midfield.

Kobbie Mainoo's sterling midfield play

A standout moment occurred early in the game when Mainoo made a penetrating run from deep midfield, skillfully evading Belgium's midfield pressure. He then combined with Bellingham, leading to an opportunity for Ivan Toney.

This sequence ultimately resulted in England being awarded a penalty after Toney was fouled by his marker. The Brentford captain converted the penalty, securing his debut goal for the 1966 World Cup champions.

While Toney found the net, Mainoo received widespread acclaim for his dynamic midfield play and bold attacking instincts.

Why Mainoo chose England over Ghana

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Manchester United's rising star, Kobbie Mainoo, made his England debut on Saturday, March 23, in a friendly encounter against Brazil.

Despite speculation that the 18-year-old might opt for Ghana, he ultimately decided to don the England jersey and has explained why.

Mainoo took to the field with 15 minutes remaining in the match against the South American giants, substituting Chelsea's Conor Gallagher, and showcased a promising performance.
