Cole Palmer earned widespread praise from fans on social media after scoring Chelsea's second goal against Leicester City in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

He topped up his goal in the first half with a nonchalant assist as Mauricio Pochettino's men beat the Foxes 4-2 in a hard-fought tie.

Palmer proves naysayers wrong

Raised eyebrows followed Chelsea's significant investment of £42 million ($53 mil) in Palmer during the summer transfer window, considering his limited senior experience at the time, according to GOAL.

However, six months later, his impact on the team suggests that the price tag was a bargain, with the Manchester City academy product emerging as one of the standout signings of the season.

Despite his young age, the Englishman has become Chelsea's linchpin, as illustrated by his crucial goal in the FA Cup quarter-final clash against the Championship leaders.

For context, Palmer has achieved the remarkable feat of both scoring and assisting a goal in six different games for the Londoners across all competitions this season, making him the Premier League player with the most such occurrences in the 2023–24 campaign, per Opta Statistics.

Fans heap praise on 'fantastic' Palmer

Fans took to social media to shower praise on Cole Palmer, recognising his importance to the team.

Additionally, Palmer's impressive performances have earned him a call-up to Gareth Southgate's 25-man squad for upcoming matches against Brazil and Belgium later this month.

Cole Palmer explains why he dumped City for Chelsea

In an earlier publication, Sports Brief reported that Cole Palmer had reiterated his choice to leave Manchester City for Chelsea last summer.

The English midfielder made the switch from City to the Blues on transfer deadline day in September.

"I opted to depart City because I believed I was prepared to play consistent football week after week. That's why I joined Chelsea," he stated.
