Messi, Suarez and Alba show Barca connection

The trio showed the chemistry that made them world-beaters at Barcelona, dissecting the Nashville defence with slick passing for the opening goal.

Alba delivered a fine cross to Messi, who wonderfully controlled the pass with his first touch to keep the attacking sequence moving.

Suarez pretended to receive the pass but let the ball through, allowing the Argentine star to have the possession instead.

Once the ball went past him, Suarez immediately ran toward the box, knowing fully well what was going to happen next.

Messi delivered a perfect through ball to Suarez, who found himself wide open inside the box with his well-timed run.

Suarez took full advantage of Messi's delivery, hitting his shot attempt past the Nashville goalkeeper to open the scoring in the eighth minute.

The goals kept on coming for Inter Miami in the first half, with Messi finding the back of the net in the 23rd minute after an assist from Diego Gomez to double the Herons' lead in the second leg, per USA Today.

Robert Taylor replaced Messi in the 50th minute and wasted no time finding the back of the net for Inter Miami, per CBS Sports. He made it 3-0 for the Herons in the 63rd minute, scoring a header off Suarez's pass.

Inter Miami's struggles without Messi

Sports Brief recently reported on Inter Miami's record without Messi in the lineup.

They have struggled when the Argentine star was sidelined, winning just once in nine matches.

Messi missed their last game against CF Montreal, with Inter Miami losing that contest 3-2.
