  • Luis Suarez scored a double for Inter Miami vs Orlando City
  • They were his maiden strikes for the Herons in the MLS
  • He also notched an assist alongside his brace before halftime

Luis Suarez finally opened his goal-scoring account for Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer (MLS) during the Florida Derby against Orlando City.

After failing to find the net in Inter Miami's opening matches against Real Salt Lake and LA Galaxy, Suarez ensured he left a lasting impression on MLS fans, showcasing why he is regarded as one of the top strikers of his era.

The former Barcelona forward wasted no time, scoring his first goal for the Herons just four minutes into the game, marking his second consecutive appearance with a goal in the ongoing MLS regular season, per GOAL.

Suarez opens MLS goal-scoring account

Suarez capitalised on a well-executed low cross from Julian Gressel, directing the ball into the near post to give his team the early lead.

Not content with just one, the 37-year-old and Gressel combined once again, with Suarez securing his second goal of the night within 11 minutes of play, according to the BBC.

This time, the duo orchestrated a seamless play in front of the Orlando City box as the American midfielder deftly set up Suarez for a powerful left-footed strike into the bottom corner, extending Inter Miami's lead.

He was poised to have a flawless first 45 minutes, if not for a VAR review that disallowed his goal and deemed him offside right before halftime.

Nonetheless, he played a pivotal role in assisting teammate Robert Taylor for the third goal as Inter Miami, under Gerardo Martino's guidance, surged to a commanding three-nil lead before the break.

Suarez and Messi share South American tea

Sports Brief noted that Suarez and Messi were spotted sharing 'mate' tea as they arrived at the Chase Stadium for their inaugural league match of the season, marking their first joint appearance in 921 days.

Mate tea, a traditional South American herbal beverage, is a customary sight for the World Cup winner, who is often seen with it upon arriving at games.

Suarez, the former Liverpool star, prepared the flask with water before graciously passing it to his friend Messi.
