  • FC Porto vs Arsenal ended in a 1-0 defeat for the Gunners at Estadio do Dragao
  • Brazilian Wenderson Galeno scored the only goal of the match in the 93rd minute
  • Arsenal need to beat Porto 2-0 in the second leg to qualify for the quarter-finals

Brazilian star Wenderson Galeno was the man of the moment during FC Porto's Champions League clash against Arsenal on Wednesday night.

The Gunners went into the Round of 16 clash with the hope of continuing with their impressive form that has seen them score 21 goals in their last five games.

The haul includes their 5-0 win over Burnley last weekend and their 6-0 victory against rivals West Ham United on Sunday, February 11.

However, Mikel Arteta's charges were unable to replicate that form when they took on Porto at Estadio do Dragao, falling to a 1-0 defeat.

According to SPORTbible, it was a pretty uneventful evening in Portugal, with neither side threatening the other in front of goal.

In fact, the visitors failed to record a single shot on target throughout the evening during the first-leg fixture.

However, with the match all but set to end in a goalless draw, Galeno found the back of the net with a last-minute screamer to sink the Gunners.

The Brazilian had initially missed two sitters before he found the back of the net with a wonder strike.

A video of his 25-yard strike has been doing rounds on social media, leaving fans in awe.

Galeno's stoppage-time effort was the first ever 9th-minute goal conceded by Arsenal in a Champions League game.

The Premier League giants will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Newcastle United on Saturday, February 24.

Arteta calls out Arsenal stars

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Arteta criticising Arsenal stars after their defeat to FC Porto.

Arsenal, who looked lacklustre for most of the game, barely threatened and thought they had come away with a precious draw ahead of the second leg at the Emirates.
