  • Chelsea beat Aston Villa in the FA Cup to ease pressure on Mauricio Pochettino
  • The Blues dominated Unai Emery's charges to proceed to the fifth round
  • The club later on took a shot at their London rivals, Arsenal and Tottenham

Chelsea breezed past Aston Villa in the replay of the fourth round of the FA Cup at Villa Park on Wednesday, February 7.

The Blues conjured one of their best performances of the season to beat the high-flying Villa 3-1 and proceed to the next round of the competition.

Conor Gallagher bagged his first goal for the season to open the scoring for Mauricio Pochettino's side in the 11th minute. Ten minutes later, Nicolas Jackson headed in a cross from Malo Gusto to double Chelsea's advantage.

The moment of the game came nine minutes after the restart after Enzo Fernandez scored a ridiculous free-kick from way out, which his compatriot Emi Martinez could do little about.

Moussa Diaby pulled one back for the hosts in stoppage time after a beautifully worked-out corner routine.

The result will see Chelsea play Leeds United at home in the next round, three days after they play Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on February 25.

Chelsea troll London rivals

Chelsea's X admin aimed a sly dig at their London rivals with a brutal post which read;

"London clubs left in the #EmiratesFACup:
- Chelsea ✔️
End of list."

Arsenal were eliminated by Liverpool in the last round, while Manchester City beat Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth round. Pochettino will be hoping this result will inject the much-needed confidence to turn around the club's season.

They have lost back-to-back games to sink into 11th place on the Premier League table.

Pochettino explains why he dropped Thiago Silva

Sports Brief has also reported that Pochettino denied claims that Thiago Silva was dropped due to his wife's comments.

Belle Silva stirred commotion online after she called on the club to make changes after the 4-2 defeat to Wolves.

Her husband was dropped to the bench for their FA Cup replay against Villa but was introduced in the second half.
