  • Hakim Ziyech has scored for Morocco against Zambia
  • The ex-Chelsea star dedicated the goal to his coach
  • Walid Regragui has been handed a four-game ban

Hakim Ziyech celebrated his goal in the game between Morocco and Zambia showing support to suspended coach Walid Regragui.

The former Chelsea winger opened the scoring in San Pedro after smashing home from inside the box in the 38th minute following a poor clearance from Zambia.

Morocco, who enjoyed most of the first half, sit top of Group F and could still go through if the game ends in a draw.

In a video shared on social media, Ziyech and his teammates ran to the bench to look for the coach in the VIP box, before producing the love gesture to the gaffer.

Regragui has been handed a four-game ban with two at the Nations Cup following his clash with Democratic Republic of Congo captain Chancel Mbemba.

The North Africans are preparing an appeal against the decision despite the coach serving the first of his ban in Cote d'Ivoire.

The World Cup semi-finalists are hoping to end their 48-year AFCON trophy drought by winning the 2023 tournament.

Ziyech was replaced in the second half by Amine Adli after picking a knock.

The Atlas Lions will face South Africa in the round of 16 if they finish top of their group, per Sky Sports.

Regragui opens up on clash with Mbemba

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Walid Regragui responded to Chancel Mbemba after the Democratic Republic of Congo defender accused the Moroccan coach of using 'unprintable' words at him at the end of their match.

The Olympique Marseille star and Regragui clashed moments after the game, leading to chaotic scenes as players from both sides went at each other.

The unfortunate incident marred a very competitive match at San Pedro, with the two sides sharing the spoils.

Mbemba accuses Walid Regragui of racism

Sports Brief also reported that Democratic Republic of Congo captain, Chancel Mbemba has given his version of what led to the heated exchange he had with Morocco coach, Walid Regragui.

The Olympique Marseille centre-back furiously reacted to the coach at the end of the Group F clash on Sunday, leading to players on both sides clashing.

It is unclear what Regragui said to Mbemba to spark that reaction, but according to the ex-Newcastle United player, the coach's words were 'unprintable'.
