The news broke yesterday of Manchester United’s reported interest in Real Madrid star, Vinicius Junior, and the first reaction of many fans was to laugh it off as a joke.

Per Sport, Madrid are looking to swoop for Kylian Mbappe this summer. Despite being poised to arrive on a free transfer, he is set to cost the club about £150 million over five years.

This has made Los Blancos consider parting ways with their Brazilian attacker, who plays the same position as the Frenchman, to fund the transfer.

United are reportedly interested in the 23-year-old and are willing to part with £130mil for him, which will greatly boost their attack under Erik ten Hag or whoever takes over if the Dutchman is sacked.

The news was shared on social media and amid varied fan reactions, England legend Gary Lineker could not believe what he was reading and commented with two laughing emojis.

In his last game, Vini helped Madrid beat rivals, FC Barcelona 4-1 in the Spanish Super Cup, scoring a first-half hat-trick. Could he be the next big thing at Old Trafford?
