Robert Lewandowski blew hot and cold with his reaction to Brazilian forward Victor Roque after the youngster missed chances to score on his Barcelona debut.

Roque arrived in Barcelona last week after completing the Brazilian Serie A season with Atletico Paranaense, having signed for the La Liga giants in the summer.

He came off the bench in the 78th minute for his debut and immediately showed signs of why Barca went all the way to secure his signing but missed the chance to have a debut goal.

Lewandowski reacts to Roque’s miss

One of the misses came in the game's closing minutes after Ilkay Gundogan had given Xavi’s men the lead from the penalty spot after he was fouled.

As seen in a video making rounds on social media, Lewandowski, who had been substituted and stood on the touchline, was in disbelief at the miss but immediately composed himself and applauded the youngster to motivate him.

Xavi was full of praise for what he saw with the 18-year-old and was not critical of the chances missed but focused on what he could offer the team in the long run.

“He’s going to give us a lot. He does very well in depth. Specifically, the substitution of Lewandowski was because we needed players who could move with speed, like Vitor, Lamine, Fermín, Joao Félix,” he said via Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona fans on social media were also not harsh on the new star but instead focused on his style of play, which added extra energy and movement to their game.
