  • Christensen joined Barcelona from Chelsea in 2022

Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen is not happy with the amount of minutes he has played this season and will look to push for a move away from the reigning La Liga champions.

The Danish defender has fallen down the pecking order at the Catalan club with Inigo Martinez and Jules Kounde often preferred ahead of him to start games by coach Xavi Hernandes.

According to Football Espana, Christensen will be open to returning to the English Premier League if a suitable offer comes but maintains he is willing to fight for his place in the Barcelona team.

Barcelona are not willing to let the aggrieved defender leave early and are considering extending his contract with his current deal set to expire in 2026.

Christensen gained prominence while playing for Chelsea and was snapped up by the La Liga champions as a free agent in 2022 when his contract with the Blues expired.

Christensen tipped for Barca XI

Meanwhile, Andreas Christensen has been widely tipped to start for Barcelona when the reigning La Liga champions host Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid on Sunday, December 2 at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, FCBN reports.

Xavi could call up the Danish defender, who has played a minimal role this season, to the starting line-up as he considers resting either Inigo Martinez or Jules Kounde for the crunch La Liga game.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid placed third and fourth respectively on the La Liga table, will be hoping to revive their league title chances with a win in Sunday’s game to cut the gap Girona and Real Madrid.

Chelsea fans hilariously hail Christensen

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Andreas Christensen is hailed as a proper Chelsea fan after helping to preserve a record held by his former club during Barcelona’s loss to Real Valladolid.

Barcelona suffered their second loss since being crowned La Liga champions with a 3-1 defeat away from home to relegation-threatened Valladolid.

Christensen guided a cross past his goalkeeper Andre Ter Stegen with a beautiful header to open the scoring for the home team. Robert Lewandowski scored a consolation after Barca went 3-0 down.
