  • La Liga champions Barcelona suffered a 3-1 loss to relegation-threatened Real Valladolid
  • Former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen opened the scoring with a well-taken header into his net
  • The Blaugrana have now conceded 18 league goals this season boasting the best defensive record

Andreas Christensen is hailed as a proper Chelsea fan after helping to preserve a record held by his former club during Barcelona’s loss to Real Valladolid.

Barcelona suffered their second loss since being crowned La Liga champions with a 3-1 defeat away from home to relegation-threatened Valladolid.

Christensen guided a cross past his goalkeeper Andre Ter Stegen with a beautiful header to open the scoring for the home team. Robert Lewandowski scored a consolation after Barca went 3-0 down.

According to Daily Star, Barcelona had already matched Chelsea's record of 25 clean sheets set in the 2004/05 season and were eyeing the least goals conceded of 15 set in the same season under José Mourinho.

Chelsea fans troll Christensen

According to The Athletic, a verbal agreement was reached between Christensen and Chelsea over a new contract, but the Dane walked out of negotiations and joined the La Liga outfit on a free transfer.

The Blues fans seem not to have forgotten the incident and trolled the player for his own goal, which was Barca’s 16th goal conceded this season.

One wrote:

''Christensen puts the ball in the BACK of his own net. Chelsea 15 goals record is safe.''

Another wrote:

''Agent Christensen helping Chelsea maintain their goal conceded record. Even though he plays for Barcelona now, he still has Chelsea at heart.''

The third wrote:

''Christensen scoring an own goal so that Barcelona won’t defeat Chelsea’s fewest goal record is another win for Chelsea this season. That means Jose Mourinho’s record for fewest goals conceded in a single Premier League campaign still stands.''

Another added:

''Yes!!!!! Always knew Christensen was proper chels!!! That own goal means Chelsea’s 15 GA record stands for yet another year!!''

Christensen rejects wage cut

Sports Brief reported that Christensen rejected Barcelona’s wage cut offer, which was aimed to fund the return of Lionel Messi to Camp Nou.

The offer was made to Andreas and fellow summer signing Franck Kessie, but both rejected it. They felt it was unwarranted to have such offers less than a year into their time at the club.
