The three most prominent teams in La Liga are Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. The last time a team aside from those three won the La Liga trophy was in 2004, when Valencia won it. Due to their success, these teams tend to attract the best players in the transfer market.

1. Madrid rejected an offer to re-sign Ronaldo before Saudi Arabia move

Sources from Real Madrid's management have confirmed that the player's entourage had floated a blockbuster return for the Portugal star. The 37-year-old recently signed for Saudi side Al Nassr amid reports that he wanted to stay in Europe. Agent Jorge Mendes is also said to have floated him to Chelsea and Bayern Munich with little success.
