Players of the Comoros national team stayed late to celebrate their victory over the Black Stars of Ghana in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.

Myziande Maolida's first-half strike earned the Island nation an important win as they go top of Group I of the African qualifiers.

While the players of the team celebrated wildly in their dressing room, fans took to the streets of Moroni to enjoy the victory.

In videos shared on social media, the Comorian people partied through the night after picking six points in the opening games of the qualifiers.

This is the second time Comoros are beating Ghana after first defeating the Black Stars at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The defeat means Ghana sits fourth on the table behind Madagascar, Mali and Comoros.

The World Cup qualifiers will continue in June 2024, with the four-time African champions facing Mali and the Central African Republic.

Comoros will face Madagascar and Chad during that same period.

The Black Stars are chasing a fifth appearance at the World Cup in the US, Mexico and Canada. '

Comoros beat Ghana in World Cup qualifiers

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Comoros have beaten Ghana for the second time in 24 months after a 1-0 victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Moroni on Tuesday.

Myziane Maolida's first-half strike was enough as the little Island nation recorded an important win against the four-time African champions.

The Black Stars started the game on a bright note, with Inaki Williams finding strike partner Antoine Semenyo, but the Bournemouth forward missed the chance.

Comoros troll Ghana on social media

Sports Brief also reported that Comoros trolled the Black Stars, taking their banter with the Black Stars to social media after posting a video mocking the team following the 1-0 win.
