The reason for the incident is not clear.

Egypt have won their two opening matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, sitting comfortably at the top of Group A after beating Djibouti and Sierra Leone.

Salah scored four times in the 6-0 thrashing of Djibouti in Cairo, as he became his country's all-time top scorer in World Cup qualifiers, as reported by CAF Online.

Egypt will now need to switch their attention to next year's Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where they are drawn with Ghana, Mozambique, and Cape Verde in Group B.

The Pharaoh's next World Cup qualifier game is against Burkina Faso in June next year.

Salah scores four against Djibouti

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Salah scoring a quadruple for Egypt as they eased past Djibouti in their opening game of Africa's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Liverpool winger scored a hat-trick in only 27 minutes before adding his fourth goal of the game late as the Pharaohs strolled to a 6-0 win at home.

Mostafa Mohammed and Trezeguet crowned a spectacular performance for the Egyptians with their respective two goals in the final 20 minutes of the game.

Salah sets new record for Egypt

Sports Brief also reported on Salah posted a new Egypt record in the 6-0 thrashing of Djibouti in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The 31-year-old became his country's all-time leading scorer in World Cup qualifiers after netting a quadruple in the game in Cairo.

Having missed out on the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Egypt have declared their intentions early with Salah opening the goal count.
