  • Itumeleng Khune has failed to keep a clean sheet in his last seven matches for Kaizer Chiefs
  • The Amakhosi were defeated by rivals Cape Town City at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday night
  • Khanyisa Mayo was on target in the 58th minute to give his side all three points from the tie

Kaizer Chiefs were defeated again in the Premier Soccer League and there are now concerns over the performance of goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune.

Statistics have shown the Amakhosi have lost each of the last seven league games in which the 36-year-old shot-stopper has started for the club.

Although Chiefs dominated most of the game, Khanyisa Mayo scored the lone goal for the visiting Cape Town City as they silenced the home fans at the FNB Stadium.

The Amakhosi had the lion's share of possession in the first half but Ashley du Preez, Christian Saile, and Pule Mmodi failed to convert their chances, GOAL reports.

The Citizens finished the first half strongly, with Mayo coming the closest to scoring, but his glancing header missed the target by inches.

However, the striker was on target in the 58th minute to give his side all three points, leaving the home side stunned.

Chiefs have only managed three wins in their last nine matches, registering two draws and four defeats. They are seventh on the PSL log with 11 points; Cape Town City are fifth with 13 points.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns continue with their perfect run in the league with eight wins from eight matches.

Masandwana are ten points above second-placed Golden Arrows, who have 14 points from seven matches. Swallows and SuperSport United have 13 points to claim the third and fourth positions, respectively.

Sports Brief also reported on Molefi Ntseki discussing the situation predicament, acknowledging neither he nor his players were willing to accept their situation.

Chiefs went down 1-0 to City despite having more possession and more shots on goal than their opponents, who have now leapfrogged them on the PSL log.

The Glamour Boys, who are struggling for positive results, will not get a chance to improve their tally until October 28 when they travel to meet Golden Arrows.
