The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner took a pass near midfield from Josef Martinez, who hit the ground hard after a challenge, per USA Today.

Messi found some space, uncorking a left-footed shot from distance into the bottom corner.

Messi remains red-hot

He has now scored in each of his first six matches for Inter Miami, dating back to his debut against Cruz Azul on July 21.

Fans in Chester went into a frenzy when Messi scored his third away goal in the United States at Subaru Park.

He benefited from the referee allowing the play to continue after Martinez was fouled hard in the middle of the pitch.

Martinez had given Inter Miami a dream start in this semifinal tie, scoring in the third minute to give the Herons an early 1-0 lead.

He received a pass from Serhiy Kryvtsov before sending the ball into the left side of the net with a fine strike past Philly goalkeeper Andre Blake.

Early goals galore for Miami

With Martinez's early strike, Inter Miami has now scored inside the first 10 minutes for the fourth time since Messi’s arrival.

The 2022 World Cup hero had scored the three previous early goals, netting in the sixth, seventh, and eighth minutes in the Herons' past Leagues Cup matches.
