Borussia Dortmund winger, Karim Adeyemi, has been axed from Germany’s Euro 2024 campaign after being excluded from the provisional squad for the tournament.

The 22-year-old attacker, who was born to a Nigerian father and a Romanian mother, has been part of the German set-up since making his debut for the senior national team in 2021.

According to Complete Sports, Adeyemi is part of several Borussia Dortmund players dropped from Julian Nagelsmann’s 27-man squad for the tournament kicking off next month.

The 22-year-old was a member of Germany's squad for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup but did not play in any games as the four-time world champions were eliminated in the group stages.

Adeyemi will now need to shift his focus to winning the UEFA Champions League with Borussia Dortmund as the Bundesliga giants prepare to face Real Madrid in the final on June 1.

Neuer and Kroos in Germany’s squad

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, and Real Madrid midfielder, Toni Kroos, have been included in Germany’s 27-man provisional squad for Euro 2024, the BBC reports.

38-year-old Neuer has not featured for Die Mannschaft since breaking his leg after the 2022 World Cup while Kroos reversed his decision to quit international football to be part of the Euros.

Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels and Julian Brandt, alongside Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry, missed out while Tottenham Hotspur striker, Timo Werner, is absent with a hamstring injury.

The Euro 2024 will be held in Germany and will run from June 14 to July 14.

Adeyemi shows love for Nigeria

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Adeyemi displayed his affection for Nigeria after netting in the Bundesliga victory over rivals Bayern Munich.

The German international scored as Dortmund strolled to a 2-0 win at Allianz Arena, spotted with Nigeria-inspired socks after his side's win.
